The name for this coveted wine-colored gemstone name comes from the Latin granatus for “seedlike” for the crystals’ resemblance to pomegranate seeds.Garnet is the birthstone for January. According to legend, Noah suspended a finely cut, glowing garnet to illuminate the ark and steer it thrgouh the dark night.Garnet is said to protect its wearer with a shield against negative energy or intentions.It is supposed to aid in recovery of memories from this lifetime as well as other. Garnet symbolizes fire, faith, courage, truth, grace, compassion, constancy and fidelity.It is believed to stimulate the bloodstream and pituitary glands, and to combatdepression.It is said to protect travelers from harm and sleepers from nightmares.
Garnet is found in Kenya, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Brazil, India, Madagascar, Canada, the USA, the Czech Republic and Spain.

Goldstone is a beautiful manmade gemstone which can be flashy or elegant.Goldstone is a type of glass with tiny copper dots visible throughout the stone.A special process is needed to create the stone’s metallic gleam.Copper salts are added to colored liquid glass.The mass of glass is held at a specific temperature for a length of time, and then allowed to cool.As the glass cools, the salts turn into copper crystals, creating that unique sparkle.Goldstone is often mistaken for sunstone, a feldspar.Goldstone reportedly originated with Italian monks trying to make gold out of other materials.The secret was kept for years until the Chinese, it is said, discovered how to make the gemstone.Nowadays, the best goldstone comes from China,instead of Italy and Austria.Because of its origins in the monastery, goldstone is usedfrequently in religious jewelry. Goldstone is believed to store energy of those who touch it, making it an excellent gifts for loved ones who are far away.It is also considered a good deflector of unwanted energies, and is highly regarded in the spirit realm as a protection mineral.Mystics use it as a nervoussystem stimulant to enhance transmission of healing energies from the hands.Goldstone is believed by many to be a powerful energy generator.The copper within it is claimed to be helpful in reducing inflammation and increasing circulation.
Blue Goldstone This deep-blue goldstone variety, made with blue glass, looks like the midnight sky sprinkled with stars.
Brown Goldstone This most common variety of goldstone is reddish brown glass.
Green Goldstone This variety is difficult to source.Perhaps because the glass contains thin green flakes inaddition to the usual copper dots.Green goldstone is more difficult to create than the other varieties.
Howlite This calcium silicoborate is naturally white, often with a dark gray or black spider web matrix.This stone should be
kept away from acids, solvents, rough handling and prolongedexposure to strong light.
Howlite is name after mineralogist Henry How, who firstdiscovered the gemstone in Nova Scotia during the 19thcentury.Howlite is the stone of memory, knowledge and progress, and is said to encourage reasoning, observation, desernment, patience and tact.It also is believed toeliminate pain, stress and anger.
African Jade African Jade, also known as Transvaal Jade. is not a real jade, but is actually an opaque grossular garnet which is a silicate of calcium and aluminum. The word grossular comes from the Latin work for "gooseberry". The African Jade's pale green color resembles that of a gooseberry.
