Onyx
Onyx is a striped semi-precious variety of agate, with white, black, brown or red alternating bands.  Onyx may chip or scratch rather easily, so store it carefully.  Onyx is one of the 12 stones mentioned in the Bible as adorning the breastplate of the high priest.  This gemstone is thought to help eliminate apathy, stress and neurological disorders, eliminate negative thinking, and sharpen the wits of the wearer.  It is used to change habits, in addition to helping concentration levels and aiding absentmindedness.

The main sources of onyx are India and South America, but it is also found in China, Madagascar, Mexico and the USA

Opal

African Opal
Opal is a delicate stone with a fine vibration.  Opal is absorbent and  reflective, it picks up thoughts and feelings, amplifies them, and returns them to the source.  Opal enhances self-worth, it helps you understand your full potential, brings lightness and spontaneity and it encourages an interest in the arts.
Emotionally, Opal has always been associated with love and passion as it intensifies emotions and releases inhibitions.  Opal strengthens the will to live.  It treats Parkinson’s disease, infections, fevers and strengthens memory.  It purifies the blood and kidneys, regulates insulin, eases childbirth and alleviates PMS. This stone is also beneficial to the eyes.
Blue Opal is an emotional soother and can enhance communication.
Cherry Opal promotes a feeling of being centered.  It is helpful in healing headaches, blood disorders, muscle tension and spinal disorders.
Blue-Green Opal is a mood enhancing stone.  It detoxifies and regenerates the liver and relieves feelings of constriction from heart and chest.
Fire Opal is a protector against danger and is a symbol of hope.  It heals the intestines and the kidneys, and is an excellent energizer.

Green Opal strengthens the immune system and alleviates colds and flu.

Peridot
Peridot was associated in early tines with the sun.  It was said to store the bright rays of the sun and was thought to store the bright rays of the sun thus guarded against imminent eclipses and blindness. The French name periodot is derived from the Arabian word faridat, which means gemstone.

Peridot is the Modern  birthstone for the month of August as adopted by the American National Association of Jewelers in 1912. It is also the stone for the Zodiac sign of Libra. The Traditional Birthstones for August are Sardonyz, and Carnelian.

Petrified Wood
This gemstone is the fossilized wood of palm trees which occurred about 20 million years ago.  The pretrification process occurs underground, when wood becomes buried under sediment.  Water flowing through the sediment deposits minerals in the plant's cells and as the cells decay, stone takes its place.  Petrified wood can preserve the original structure of the ancient wood in all its detail, down to the microscopic level.  Structures such as tree rings and the various tissues can often be observed.  Elements such as manganese, iron and copper in the sediment during the petrification process give petrified wood its various colors.  Petrified palm wood is very hard and takes an excellent polish, making it a great stone for jewelry  Mystics believe this gemstone removes petty annoyances and enhances one's connection to earth and nature.  The main source of this stone is Texas and Louisiana.

Rhyolite
Rhyolite, is a fine grained  igneous rock with high silica content.  Rhyolite has a composition similar to granite but has a much smaller grain size.  It  is cooled from a molten state, too quickly for crystals to form.   Because  rhyolitic magma and lava are so thick, they tend to build up pressure until a gas explosion in the volcano throws them all over the place in particles ranging from ash all the way up to big blocky chunks.  The stone’s mossy greens, browns and grays are reminiscent of a rainforest, and it presents interesting banding.  Rhyolite lavas occur in continental and submarine volcanoes, especially island arcs, and in igneous dikes.   Rhyolites were formed in profusion in the Yellowstone Park area and throughout the southwestern portion of the United States.
It is said to light the fire of creativity within the soul and help with self-realization; it’s believed to balance the emotions and increase self-respect, self-worth and the capacity to love.

Rhyolite fortifies the body’s natural resistance.  It treats veins, rashes, skin disorders, and infections.  It can dissolve kidney stones and hardened tissue.
